Caroline O’Donovan, a news reporter for Buzzfeed, has been nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for her article, Here’s A Video Of A Self-Driving Uber Running A Red Light.
This riveting piece of journalism goes in detail about how on the first day of Uber operating self driving cars in San Francisco, one of them ran a red light. As the article goes on to clarify, the car was being driven by a human at the time, and was not carrying any passengers. “These incidents were due to human error,” said a spokesperson for Uber. “This is why we believe so much in making the roads safer by building self-driving Ubers. These vehicles were not part of the pilot and were not carrying customers. The drivers involved have been suspended while we continue to investigate.”
The American Tribune congratulates Caroline O’Donovan and the entire Buzzfeed team on this fine piece of literature, and hopes that they continue to hold the high standards of reporting that it shows.
